Embify Studio

Know it'll sew before you pay

Put your logo, words and shapes on a board the size of your real hoop or garment, in mm, cm or inches, and see the real stitches underneath. Then run the Check: your design gets a Sew Score, and anything that won't sew well is named in plain words, with a fix for it.

  • ✓ One-click fixes, each with its own Undo
  • ✓ Press play and watch it sew, stitch by stitch
  • ✓ Edit any part of a logo, or Select similar to take every part in one thread
  • ✓ Real threads from Madeira, Isacord, Gunold, Robison-Anton and Marathon
  • ✓ Share a stitched preview with your customer before you sew

Free to try. A free account shows the stitches. Prefer one upload and done? The classic converter is still here.

Export to Any Machine Format

Download your finished design in every major embroidery format, ready to drop on a USB and stitch. Each file carries the correct thread sequence, colour stops and trims for your machine.

New: files for Happy machines. Pick Happy in Export and you get the .DST that current Happy machines read, plus Happy's own .TAP, with the same stitches.

.PES .DST .JEF .EXP .XXX .VP3 .TAP

Smart Auto-Digitizing

Upload a vector SVG, or trace a PNG/JPG to SVG with the built-in tool, sized for left chest, back, cap and sleeve. The engine turns it into real stitches, automatically choosing satin for strokes and tatami fill for solid areas, with crisp edges and no loose thread.

Realistic Stitch Preview

See your design as real stitches, with a flat coverage view and a realistic thread look, before you commit a single thread. Press play to watch it sew in your machine's order, every stitch, jump and cut. Every design gets a straight answer too: Ready to sew, Sew a test first, or Best for quoting.

Thread Colour Detection & Brand Matching

Every colour in your artwork is detected, split into its own thread group and sewn colour by colour, so the machine changes thread cleanly. Pick real threads by brand, name or number from Madeira Polyneon 40, Isacord 40, Gunold Poly 40, Robison-Anton Super Brite Poly or Marathon Polyester, and the thread you pick is named on the sew order, the colour sheet and in the file. The classic converter can also match from only the spools you own. Colours on screen are approximate, so check a real spool before you buy.

Optimised, Clean Sew-Outs

Behind the scenes it minimises needle jumps and thread cuts, balances stitch density, and weaves connectors under the fill to avoid stray threads, so designs run faster on the machine, with fewer breaks and a cleaner finish. Its targets for jumps, trims, density and stitch length come from 80 professionally digitized production files.

Edit Any Part in Your Browser

Tweak the result without extra software. Recolour or remove any part of a logo, or pick one part and press Select similar to change every part in the same thread at once. Add your own lettering in embroidery fonts that show your words as you choose, each tagged with the smallest size it stitches cleanly. Changed your mind? Undo and redo are a click away.

New in Embify Studio

Fewer surprises at the machine

More of what gets a design sewing right first time, on the board, before you pay a penny.

Check your stitches before you pay

Finished your design? The Studio makes Check stitches your next step, before Download. You get a Sew Score and a plain list of anything that won't sew well, so you know how it'll sew before you spend a penny. Change anything afterwards and the Studio asks you to check again, so the file you pay for always matches your board.

Your hoop, before the machine says no

Pick the hoop your machine takes and the board shows the area it can sew. A design that won't fit gets a warning and a one-tap fix that makes it fit, with Undo.

Lettering, your way

Put a company, a name and a role in one text on up to four lines, set left, centred or right, and turn it to any angle. Your words look the same before and after Check, at the height you set, and your file matches.

Mirror for a matching pair

Mirror or flip a logo for left and right sleeves in one click. If lettering would read backwards, the Studio tells you before you sew it.

See it on a garment

One click shows your stitches on a polo, hoodie or cap, in the garment colour you choose, so you and your customer know how it will look.

Fewer colours, fewer stops

Take a logo down one thread colour at a time. Every colour you drop is one thread change fewer on the machine, and each step can be undone.

What to put underneath

Every fabric tells you which backing to use, and the production sheet lists it with the metres of thread each colour needs. T-shirts get cut-away, the backing stretchy knits need.

Where auto-digitizing works, and where it doesn't

Works well
  • ✓ Logos, badges and crests in flat, solid colours
  • ✓ Block-capital lettering from 4.5 mm tall, lowercase and serif from about 6 mm, script from about 8 mm
  • ✓ Left chest, cap, sleeve and back placements on polos, fleeces and workwear
Not the right tool
  • × Photos, for now. Embify tells you straight away if you add one, and photo support is coming later this year: we can email you when it's ready
  • × Soft gradients and shading
  • × Extreme 3D puff
  • × Taglines and web addresses under 4.5 mm tall. The Check names any lettering too small to stitch, so you can enlarge it, type it or leave it out before you pay

Embify tells you whether a design will sew cleanly at your chosen size before you download, and never calls a design good to sew when part of it won't stitch. As with any digitized file, sew one sample before a big run. Which artwork works best →

What is Embify?

Embify is an online auto-digitizing tool that converts a logo or artwork (PNG, JPG or SVG) into a machine-ready embroidery file, DST, PES, JEF, EXP, XXX, VP3 or TAP. You get a realistic 3D sew-out preview before downloading, with no embroidery software or manual digitizing skill needed.

How do I turn a logo into an embroidery file?

Upload your logo (PNG, JPG or SVG), set the finished size, check the sew-out preview, then download in your machine's format, DST, PES, JEF, EXP, XXX, VP3 or TAP. Embify digitizes the artwork into stitches for you, so you don't need embroidery software or hand-digitizing skills. See the step-by-step guide.

Is Embify free to try?

Yes. You can upload your artwork, digitize it and inspect the full realistic 3D sew-out for free, with no credit card required, so you can see exactly how it will stitch before you decide. Downloading the machine file costs £5 as a one-off, or is included in a monthly plan.

What embroidery file formats can I export?

Embify exports PES, DST, JEF, EXP, XXX, VP3 and TAP, covering Brother, Baby Lock, Janome, Tajima, Bernina, Melco, Pfaff, Husqvarna Viking, Singer and most other machines.

Do I need to install any software?

No. Embify runs entirely in your web browser. Upload a logo, preview the sew-out and download your file, with nothing to install.

Will my logo work for embroidery?

Bold, flat designs with a few solid colours work best. Heavy gradients and very fine detail are hard to reproduce in thread. Photos aren't supported yet: Embify tells you straight away if you add one, so you never pay for a file that won't sew, and photo support is coming later this year. Embify shows a sew-out preview so you can check before you download. See our artwork guide.

How much does Embify cost?

Digitizing and previewing your design is free. Downloading the machine file is £5 as a one-off with no subscription, or plans start at £29/month for 20 conversions if you convert regularly. Plans carry a 14-day money-back guarantee if you haven't downloaded any files.

What is the Embify studio?

Embify Studio is where you make and check your design in your browser, on a computer or a phone. Place your logo, words and shapes on a board that matches your real hoop or garment size, in mm, cm or inches, and see real stitches drawn underneath. The Check gives your design a Sew Score, names anything that won't sew well and offers a fix. It is free to try, and a free account shows the stitches. See what the studio does.

Can I edit my design before I download it?

Yes. Move, resize and rotate anything, add words and shapes, and edit the parts of your logo: give a part a new colour or remove it, or use Select similar to change every part in the same thread at once. Pick real threads by brand, name or number. Every change has an Undo, the stitches update as you edit, and a Check runs before you export. Downloading the machine file is paid, as a one-off or inside a plan.
