Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about turning a logo into a machine-ready embroidery file, from formats and sizing to pricing and the free preview.
Getting started
What does Embify do?
Embify turns your logo or artwork into a machine-ready embroidery file. You upload an image, it auto-digitizes the design into stitches, shows you a realistic sew-out preview, and lets you download a file in your machine's format. No embroidery software to install and no digitizing experience needed.
Do I need any embroidery experience?
No. The whole point of auto-digitizing is that the software makes the stitch decisions for you. You upload artwork, set the finished size, check the preview and download. If you can use a web browser, you can use Embify.
How long does a conversion take?
Seconds. Once you upload your artwork and set the size, the digitized file and sew-out preview are ready almost immediately, compared with a day or more for a hand digitizer.
Do I have to install anything?
No. Embify runs entirely in your web browser, so there's nothing to download or install. You just need your artwork and an internet connection.
Artwork & sizing
What kind of image works best?
Bold, flat artwork with a few solid colours and clean edges. A vector file (SVG, EPS, PDF) gives the sharpest result; a high-resolution PNG or JPG (at least about 1000 px on the longest side) also works and is traced automatically.
Can I embroider a photograph?
Photographs are very difficult to embroider because thread can't reproduce continuous tone or fine gradients. A simplified, posterised version with a handful of flat colours works far better.
What size should my design be?
It depends on placement. A left-chest logo is typically around 90 mm (3.5 in) wide; cap fronts are 100 to 125 mm wide; full backs are 250 to 300 mm. Always set the real finished size before digitizing, because embroidery is size-specific.
Why does small text disappear or look rough?
Thread has physical limits. Lettering needs to be at least about 5 mm tall to stay legible, and very thin lines may need thickening. The sew-out preview will show you if text is too small before you stitch.
Pricing & refunds
Is Embify free to try?
Yes. Digitizing your artwork and previewing the exact 3D sew-out is free, with no credit card required, so you can see the result before deciding to pay. Downloading the finished machine file is £5 as a one-off, or a monthly plan if you convert regularly.
How much does it cost?
Plans start at £29/month (Starter), with Pro, Platinum and Enterprise tiers for higher volumes. There's also a pay-as-you-go option if you only need a single download. Prices are shown in your local currency on the pricing page.
Is there a money-back guarantee?
Yes. There's a 14-day money-back guarantee as long as you haven't downloaded any files, since a download is the finished product. See the pricing page and terms for details.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time, and you'll keep access until the end of your current billing period.
What's the difference between a subscription and pay-as-you-go?
A subscription gives you a set number of conversions each month at a lower price per file, ideal if you convert regularly. Pay-as-you-go is a one-off charge for a single download, handy for an occasional one-off logo.
Account & technical
Will the file keep my colours?
It depends on the format. PES, JEF and XXX store thread-colour information, so your machine prompts the right changes. DST and EXP store stitches only, so you assign the colours on the machine, the sew-out is identical either way.
Can I edit the design after digitizing?
You can adjust the size and thread colours and re-check the sew-out before downloading. For the cleanest result, start from bold, simple artwork rather than trying to fix a busy design after the fact.
Is my artwork kept private?
Your uploads are used to produce your embroidery file for you. See the terms and privacy information linked in the footer for full details on how files are handled.
I have a problem with a conversion, how do I get help?
You can open a support ticket or send feedback from inside the converter, and the team will get back to you. Bold, simple artwork digitized at the right size solves most issues.
