Clean up the JPG first
A JPG saves space by blurring fine detail, and it can't be see-through, so there is always a background. Both show up in thread. Before you upload:
- Use the biggest copy you have. The one in the original email beats one saved from a website.
- Crop close to the logo. Embify removes a plain background, but a shadow, a texture or a photo behind the logo can end up stitched.
- Keep it to logos and lettering. Thread can't blend colours the way a photo does, so photos don't make good embroidery. If all you have is a photo of a logo, crop it close and check the preview.
A real JPG to VP3 conversion

Getting the VP3 onto your machine
These are the steps from the Pfaff and Husqvarna Viking user's guides.
- Unzip the download and copy the .vp3 file onto a USB stick formatted FAT32. The guides ask for FAT32.
- On a touchscreen model such as the creative icon 2 or DESIGNER EPIC 3: plug the stick in, open File Manager, touch USB Device, then touch and hold the design to load it. Pick your hoop in Embroidery Edit.
- On a simpler model such as the DESIGNER JADE 35 or creative ambition 640: with the embroidery unit on and the stick in, press load, then find the design with the arrow buttons and OK.
Don't pull the stick out while a loading spinner or File Manager is on the screen: the guides warn it can damage the files on it. Embify doesn't send designs to CREATIVATE (formerly mySewnet) itself; it gives you the file to load.
If your machine won't open the VP3
- It isn't on the list. Check you copied the .vp3, not the .zip, and that the stick is FAT32.
- It shows as an unrecognized file. The guides give a damaged file as one cause, so copy it again from the download.
- "The Data On the USB Embroidery Stick Is Not Readable". The simpler models show this for a wrong file type or a damaged or unsuitable stick. Try another stick with just the .vp3 on it.
- A red frame round the design. It sits outside the hoop. Choose a bigger hoop, or make it again in Embify at a size that fits.
- Your PES or DST copies don't show. That's expected on the DESIGNER JADE 35 and creative ambition 640: they load VP3 only.
JPG to VP3. FAQs
Will the VP3 keep the colours from my JPG?
It keeps the thread colours you see in the preview, exactly. A JPG can hold thousands of shades, so Embify groups them into a few thread colours first. If the preview shows more than you want, simplify them before you download.
How do I get a VP3 onto my Husqvarna Viking or Pfaff?
Unzip the Embify download and copy the .vp3 to a FAT32 USB stick. On touchscreen models, open File Manager, touch USB Device, then touch and hold the design. On simpler models, press load and pick it with the arrow buttons and OK.
Is the JPG to VP3 converter free?
The preview is free: digitizing your artwork and seeing the sew-out needs no card. Downloading the finished file is £5 as a one-off, or a monthly plan if you convert regularly.
