Get the JPG ready
A JPG always has a background, and it blurs fine detail to save space. Both can show up in thread, so a little care pays off:
- Ask for the original file. The copy in your customer's first email is usually bigger and sharper than one saved from a website.
- Crop close to the logo. A plain background is removed for you, but a shadow, a texture or a photo behind the logo can end up stitched. The sew-out preview shows you before you pay.
- Stick to logos and lettering. Thread is one solid colour at a time, so a photo doesn't make good embroidery.
A real JPG to TAP conversion

Getting the file onto your Happy machine
- Unzip the download. The .dst and the .tap are both inside.
- Copy one onto a USB stick and plug it into the machine. Start with the .dst, which current Happy machines read; use the .tap if your machine asks for it.
- Set the needles from the colour sheet, because neither file stores the colours.
Your Happy manual has the exact menus for your model.
JPG to TAP. FAQs
Will the TAP keep the colours from my JPG?
No. A TAP stores stitches and colour stops, not colours, so you set the threads on the machine. Embify's colour sheet lists the thread colours you saw in the preview, in sewing order.
Can I get a TAP and a DST of the same logo?
Yes. Pick Happy as your machine and the download holds both, for one £5 price. Both files hold the same stitches.
Is the JPG to TAP converter free?
The preview is free: digitizing your artwork and seeing the sew-out needs no card. Downloading the finished file is £5 as a one-off, or a monthly plan if you convert regularly.
