TAP or DST: which to load
Current Happy machines, such as the HCH Journey and the HCS3 Voyager, read DST from a USB stick, so start with the .dst. The .tap is Happy's own format, for a machine or a dealer that asks for it. Embify writes both from the same stitches, so you can load whichever your machine wants.
A real PNG to TAP conversion

Colours come on the colour sheet
Neither a TAP nor a DST can store a thread colour: the file only says where the machine stops for the next one. So with every design, Embify gives you a colour sheet listing the threads in sewing order, and a production sheet with the stitch count, the run time and the finished size. Set your needles from it before you press start.
TAP from a JPG or an SVG
Got the logo as a JPG? See JPG to TAP, which covers cleaning it up and getting the file onto your machine. Got an SVG from your designer? SVG to TAP is the cleanest start of all. For what a TAP holds, see the TAP file guide.
PNG to TAP. FAQs
Can I convert a PNG to TAP?
Yes, but not by renaming it. A TAP holds stitches, so the PNG has to be digitized first. Upload it to Embify, check the sew-out preview, pick Happy as your machine and download.
Do Happy machines read DST?
Current ones do, according to dealers' listings for models such as the HCH Journey, the HCS3 Voyager and the HCD3E. That's why the Happy download includes a DST as well as the TAP.
Is the PNG to TAP converter free?
The preview is free: digitizing your artwork and seeing the sew-out needs no card. Downloading the finished file is £5 as a one-off, or a monthly plan if you convert regularly.
