What is a VP3 file?
A VP3 file is the embroidery format used by Pfaff and Husqvarna Viking machines. It stores the stitch commands and the thread-colour information, so your machine knows which colours to change to and when. It's the newer Viking/Pfaff format, replacing the older VIP and HUS files.
Which machines use VP3?
VP3 is read by Pfaff (creative and performance series) and Husqvarna Viking (Designer, Epic and Opal series) machines. If you own one of those, VP3 is the format to download. Most of these machines will also read a DST file, so DST is a safe fallback if you ever need it.
How to convert your logo to VP3
- Upload your logo (an SVG is sharpest; a clear PNG or JPG also works, Embify will trace it).
- Set the real finished size and check the live sew-out preview.
- Choose VP3 and download. The file carries the correct thread sequence and colour stops for your Pfaff or Viking machine.
It all happens in your browser, with nothing to install.
VP3 file FAQs
Can I convert a PNG or JPG to VP3?
Yes. Embify traces your image to clean shapes, digitizes it into stitches and exports a VP3 file. Bold, flat artwork converts best.
Will a VP3 file keep my colours?
Yes, VP3 stores thread-colour information, so your Pfaff or Husqvarna Viking machine will prompt the correct colour changes.
What if my machine won't read VP3?
Nearly all Pfaff and Viking machines read VP3, but if yours is older, download a DST file instead, which most machines also accept. You can tick both formats before downloading.
